Welcome to YRM 2026 - the 22nd edition of the Young Researchers' Meeting!
Registration details and further information will be available here soon. Stay tuned!
A tradition dating back to 2004, the YRM is an annual meeting organized as part of the European Theoretical Spectroscopy Facility (ETSF) by and for young researchers. The spirit of the conference is to bring together early-career scientists and provide a space for discussion and networking in an open and friendly environment.
We invite early-career researchers (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD students and early postdocs) interested in the development and application of theory and tools in the fields of condensed matter physics, chemistry, and nanoscience to apply. All applicants are highly encouraged to apply for a contribution talk and/or poster.
For the 22nd edition of the YRM, we aim to focus on four interdisciplinary topics, selected to both capture the breadth of interests of the ETSF Network and highlight areas where recent breakthroughs have had major impacts:
Electronic Structure and Optical Properties
Strong Correlations
New Phases in Condensed Matter
Transport and Vibrational Properties
In addition to keynote lectures and contributed talks, there will be a poster session to showcase representative abstracts from these topics, providing a comprehensive overview of current research trends.
Other highlights of the program include, an ethics session where the participants will have the chance to discuss science- and ethics-related topics, and a special session with industry professionals which offers insights into career opportunities outside academia and advice on how to pursue them.
