Section 1: The Editorial Board and Staff shall carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
(a) Uphold the Constitution and By-laws of Yraga;
(b) Cover the events taking place within the University;
(c) Apologize at the earliest opportunity for any erroneous information inadvertently published in the final copy of the paper;
(d) Strive toward fulfilling the objectives of the publication and;
(e) Promote the right of the student body to free expression and information.
Section 1: The Constitution and By-laws guarantees the following rights of the Editorial Board and Staff:
(a) Fair imposition of disciplinary actions as provided in Article VII;
(b) Access information that may be provided by the administrative offices of the University.
(c) Use of the University’s facilities and equipment in fulfilment of his / her duties as member of the Editorial Board and Staff and;
(d) Exercise dissent and engage in productive discussions and debates without persecution from forces within and outside the University.
Section 1: Staff writers shall submit themselves to the disciplinary authority of the Editorial board and the school paper adviser.
Section 2: Penalties may be imposed by the Editorial Board depending upon the gravity of the violation.
Section 3: Members of the Editorial Board may be impeached due to grave violations of the principles of the publication, and abuse of disciplinary authority.
Section 4: The following offenses may be grounds for impeachment:
(a) Electioneering or the use of the name of the publication to endorse a specific candidate.
(b) Using one’s position to bully or harass staff writers or other students.
(c) Writing or posting defamatory content promoted under the publication’s name.
(d) Threatening one’s removal from the publication without sufficient grounds.
(e) Seven (7) consecutive unannounced absences.
Section 5: Punishments may be carried out after thorough consolidation by the Editorial Board.
Section 1: Members of the editorial board shall hold office immediately after selection.
Section 2: Non-graduating members of the Editorial Board and staff may hold office well into the succeeding school year, or until the next members of the Editorial Board are selected.
Section 1: The Constitution and By-laws shall take effect immediately upon the approval of the school paper adviser.
