WE, the editors and staff of Yraga, to institute a publication that shall uphold and maintain a pristine standard of campus journalism, in recognition of the fundamental right of the student body to freedom of self-expression and information, endeavor towards nurturing a dynamic and ethical campus press and champion the aspirations of the studentry and the community, do ordain and promulgate this Constitution and By-laws.
• Freedom of expression and information is the pillar of a democratic society. -It is the universal right of all students to express their opinions and sentiments through any media without fear of persecution.
• Freedom of the press is inviolable, even at the campus level.
• Campus journalism is instrumental in molding the critical-thinking abilities of students and vital in grooming them to become productive and law-abiding citizens of the country.
• We, the editors and staff writers of Yraga shall stand as a beacon of democracy and freedom and safeguard the right of the students to know against all forces seeking to suppress it.
Section 1: The official student publication of the Junior High School Department of the University of Saint Anthony shall be known as Yraga.
Section 2: Yraga shall stand as a publication that champions the best interests of the student body and the freedom of the press.
Section 3: Yraga shall be published yearly, pursuant to the timeline set by the school paper adviser.
Section 4: The official literary folio of Yraga shall be known as Amudyong, which shall be published before the conclusion of the academic year.
Section 5: The motto of Yraga shall be Liber Affectionem (Free Impression)
Section 6: Yraga shall adopt for its seal the pen, hand, and paper, representing the freedom of the students to express themselves through any media.
Section 7: The Editorial Board of Yraga shall conduct meetings and business in the Office of the Editorial Board or as prescribed by the school paper adviser.
Section 1: The publication shall pursue the following objectives:
(a) Collect data through fair and ethical methods
(b) Establish camaraderie with the other organizations of the University.
(c) Extend services in the University and the community.
(d) Encourage and strengthen the critical thinking and ethical values of the students of the Junior High School Department.
Section 1: Members of the Editorial Board must presently be students of the junior high school department, and must pass the selection process set by the school paper adviser.
Section 2: The editorial board shall consist of the editor-in-chief, associate editor, managing editor, layout artist, section editors, and assistant section editors.
Section 3: The editorial board shall serve the following functions:
(a) Recruit potential staff writers.
(b) Routinely organize meetings in connection with the production of the school paper.
(c) Select the editorial stand of the paper for each issue of Yraga.
(d) Cover the events held in the University.
(e) Impose sanctions and disciplinary actions on the staff writers as provided for in Article VII
(f) Participate in the production and distribution of the school paper.
Section 4: The editorial board shall hold office and convene immediately after selection. In the event that the succeeding editorial board had not yet been selected, incumbent members of the editorial board, with the exception of members who have already graduated, shall hold office until the conclusion of the selection or as provided for in Article VIII.
Section 1: The staff must be bonafide students of the Junior High School Department and must complete the requirements set by members of the editorial board upon consultation with the school paper adviser.
