10 Things to Try Out:
Your YouTube TV getting started guide
1. See what’s on live TV right now
Make your way to the Live TV tab and check out what’s on TV right now. Check out your local live broadcast channels and watch your local news or catch primetime shows airing on those broadcast networks. Or scroll down to see over 40 more popular cable networks and local sports networks. Get a live preview of what’s on each network as you scroll down from network to network.
2. Set up a few initial recordings and watch YouTube TV get better
Take advantage of the Home tab’s initial recommendations of what to record by tapping the “+” button next to programs you like on the “Add to your library” shelf. In addition to suggesting what you might want to record, your Home tab will also give you highlight shows and movies you might want to watch. The more you watch and record, the better your recommendations will get.
3. Find your favorite local MLB team and favorite shows to record so you won’t miss out
Search for your favorite local MLB team and follow them by clicking the “+” button. YouTube TV will automatically record all games as they air, no matter whether they air on your local sports network, ESPN, FS1, or other networks that are on YouTube TV. Do the same for your favorite shows like “Shark Tank,” “The Simpsons,” or “The Rachel Maddow Show,” so that all future airings - both new episodes and reruns across any network - will be recorded to your library for nine months.
4. Browse for shows and movies by genre
Head to the search area and scroll through different genres. Check out “Sports” to find sports programs on now or upcoming MLB games and other sporting events like The Open. Or dive into the “News” genre to see all the live news programs airing right now, from your local news to sports news to national cable news.
5. Go deeper with your favorite shows and teams
Can’t get enough of “The Bachelorette?” Want to check out more Steph Curry highlights? On “The Bachelorette” page and “Golden State Warriors” team page, check out the “Related on YouTube” tabs to get popular related videos from YouTube.
6. Search for “aliens” or “geeks” - your favorite genre is just an easy search away
Interested in movies and shows about the other-worldly? Search for “aliens” and see what comes up. Or love geek content? Our search function allows you to search your favorite genres, making it super for you to find the content you love.
7. Stay in-the-know with what’s popular on YouTube TV...and on YouTube
Want to know what’s popular in the YouTube TV app or on YouTube? Scroll through the “Popular Shows” shelf on the Home tab to find what TV shows folks are watching, or scroll to the “Trending on YouTube” shelf to see the popular YouTube videos of the day.
8. Make your family and roommates the happiest TV watchers
Get ready to be the most popular person in the household, as you can share your new app with up to 5 others. And better yet, they get their own account with their own personalized DVR and tailored recommendations. Head to tv.youtube.com on your computer, and set things up under your Personal settings.
9. See what YouTube Red Originals are all about
What do Joey Graceffa, Rhea Perlman, Nick Cannon and Rhett & Link have in common? They all star in YouTube Red Originals. Previously only available on YouTube Red, these series and movies are available to watch in YouTube TV for no extra cost.
