At YTP we believe it is important to equip our young performers with the skills to access the performing arts industry of today, and our audition process plays a key part in this.
Our audition process reflects the current industry format; for many advertised opportunities, a ‘self tape’ is the first interaction auditionees will have with agents/directors/producers.
Any auditionee wishing to secure a principal or featured role with YTP, must submit a self tape of the specified audition scene and/or song for their chosen character. If the YTP Creative Team feel that suitability for that role is demonstrated in the auditionee's self-tape, they will be called to an in-person audition. Here they will be asked to read scenes and sing alongside others - auditionees will be informed if they are required to learn any new material and provided with this prior to the recall.
If an auditionee is simply interested in ensemble casting, they will be asked to attend an in-person dance and vocal audition. Libretto materials will be provided in advance.
