The Scientific Initiatives for a Healthy and Developed Zambia (SiHDZ)
SiHDZ is a Zambian youth-led non-profit organization founded in 2019 by Zambian youths passionate about improving health outcomes in our communities. Our motto, "Improving Outcomes for a Healthy & Developed Community", reflects our commitment to creating a better Zambia for all.
The Youthful Antimicrobial Resistance-AMR Ambassadors -Zambia (YAMRAZ) is a youth movement affiliated with SiHDZ. Established in 2018, YAMRAZ works to promote antibiotic stewardship through awareness campaigns, research, and participation in national and international efforts to combat AMR.Â
What we do
AMR Awareness: We are dedicated to raising awareness about Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), a serious global threat. Through education and advocacy programs, we empower young people to understand AMR and take action. We created a highly successful national platform for AMR awareness debates, with over 5,000 young people participating in these events so far.
Youth Engagement: We believe young people are key to addressing AMR. Our annual Youth in AMR (SYAMR) Summit brings together young people from across Zambia to discuss AMR, share ideas, and develop solutions. This summit fosters innovation and collaboration among young minds.
Policy Advocacy: We understand the importance of good policy to address complex issues like AMR. We actively engage in advocacy efforts to influence policy related to AMR. Our goal is to ensure policies promote the prudent use of antibiotics and support initiatives to combat AMR.
