About Us:

Youth Help Sierra Leone (YHSL) is a youth-led organization and civil society entity officially founded on 23rd December 2018. The organization aims to empower young people in Sierra Leone by addressing their developmental needs, promoting their well-being, and fostering their active participation in society. YHSL is registered with several key governmental bodies, including the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security, the City Council, and the Bombali District Councils. This registration underscores its legitimacy as a recognized entity working towards youth empowerment and community development. 

Mission Statement

Our mission of Youth Help Sierra Leone is to promote and facilitate youth attachment to society and community, while increasing developmental opportunities for young people. The organization focuses on improving the well-being of youth, particularly those considered “at risk,” by ameliorating risk factors in their lives and creating protective conditions. Additionally, YHSL aims to raise public awareness about issues affecting young people, ensuring that their voices are heard and their challenges are addressed effectively.

Through its mission, YHSL seeks to create an environment where young individuals can thrive socially, economically, and emotionally. By focusing on reducing vulnerabilities among youth populations, the organization works to foster resilience and self-reliance among its beneficiaries.

Vision Statement

The vision of Youth Help Sierra Leone is for every young person to have the opportunity to build a sustainable livelihood within a thriving economy. The organisation envisions adding value to youths’ daily lives through processes of self-discovery and personal growth. This vision reflects YHSL’s commitment to empowering young people by equipping them with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their futures.

By enabling self-discovery, YHSL encourages youths to identify their strengths, talents, and aspirations while providing them with opportunities for skill-building, education, entrepreneurship, and meaningful engagement in society.

Key Objectives 

  1. To create a wide range of developmental opportunities for the youth of Sierra Leone.
  2. To provide youth with skills and abilities to succeed in life.
  3. To provide a safe, supportive and fun environment for our youth. To establish a permanent facility for the youth in Sierra Leone.
  4. Support youth to become better citizens, with greater respect for the rule of law and improved social and communication skills.
  5. Work in partnership with local and international organizations to advocate for human rights and protection of vulnerable groups, especially women and children.
  6.  Promote sustainable livelihoods for communities through outreach, mentoring, research, vocational education and training; and life skills training programs.
  7.  Empower youth to apply acquired skills both to raise the productivity of their livelihood and to open up access to wider information to improve their well-being
