The CERT curriculum serves as a base for the YET program. This trusted program has been around for since 1993 and is used widely across the nation. Most of their replication materials can be found freely on their website, including presentations, trainings, videos, and other resources.
In fact, many county EOCs already have trainers and programs in place, or at least have a familiarity of this program. Additionally agents, volunteers, local professionals, and parents can become a certified trainer to help facilitate your local YET program. This highly accessible foundation for your YET program is the best place to start.

Your area may already have a CERT program in place you can partner with. Check out the general CERT page to find your local chapter, download additonal curriculm resources, and even appy for funding.
The Youth Preparedness Council (YPC) was created in 2012 to bring together youth leaders interested in supporting disaster preparedness and making a difference in their communities by completing disaster preparedness projects nationally and locally. The YPC supports FEMA’s commitment to involve America’s youth in preparedness-related activities. It also provides young people an opportunity to present their perspectives, feedback, and opinions to FEMA staff. YPC members regularly meet with staff and attend the annual YPC Summit.
