Community Leader
Al was on the Marshalltown City Council for 16 years. He also helped fund car seats for those who needed one, and helped with other donations such as the batting cages at the high school baseball field, and the annual Donna Hoop Memorial Scholarship.
Coach
Coach Hoop was the head freshman coach for 10 years. After this position, he helped with the 7th grade Bobcat Baseball team for 6 years and always looked forward to the annual 7th and 8th grade game at the end of the season.
In honor of Coach Hoop's dedication and efforts towards Marshalltown, the hitting shed at the Little League Complex has been named after him.
