Colorado Youth Awareness Week
About Colorado Youth Awareness Week
THEN:
Born in Southern Colorado city of Pueblo, Youth Awareness Week started in 2015. The first two years the event was known as "Pueblo Youth Awareness Week". The event quickly grew in success and spread throughout the state of Colorado to become known as "Colorado Youth Awareness Week" (CYAW) by 2017.
NOW:
The Colorado Youth Leadership Network (COYLN) is sponsoring CYAW to emphasize positive youth voice and to celebrate the influence youth have in our state and local communities, as well as recognizing the positive achievements and contributions they have made. The week also recognizes the various organizations and advocates that involve Colorado’s youth and help guide them toward positive life choices and stability.
Join Colorado communities who have designed events during the week of CYAW with this thought in mind: "Know your community- For your community". You are welcome to attend any event but we have special offering for youth/young people listed under the CO Youth Awareness Days.
Celebrate the week with us!
Each day of Colorado Youth Awareness Week has a focus. Check out each day to learn about the focus and events available for both youth/young adults and adult supporters.
WHY IT MATTERS
In 2020 the COLYN created a video about YAW. Please watch the video to hear from youth and professionals why youth voice matters!
Vision
Purpose
CYAW is a week designed to bring recognition to the positive achievements, contributions, and voices of our youth here in Colorado, and to address the challenges and issues plaguing our youth
Youth are our future leaders and regardless of whether they are within an institutional setting, cross systems or non-system, their intelligence, passion, and resiliency are critical to the growth and sustainability of the State of Colorado
