As a club that encourages members to become involved citizens and thoughtful people, one's news source is imperative. It's also important to diversify what you consume; try different forms of media from different people and groups.

Open to educators, students, and anyone with internet access, Gale In Context is an online database that covers a wide range of scientific and historical issues. As implied by its name, you'll find many sources that will help you put anything in context to enhance your understanding.
How to use: open the Gale in Context web page, scroll down to Digital Resources, and select Opposing Viewpoints. There are also sub-pages for Global Issues, Environmental Studies, U.S. and World History, which may be of interest. Once on the Opposing Viewpoints page, select Access Through Your Library and browse the issues you're looking for.

Vox, created by Vox Media, is present in video and podcast form. Their content is labeled at "explanatory journalism", meaning they go into depth about details sorrounding a specifc issue. Vox is rated as leftist by multiple sources, and has had no failed fact checks in the past 5 years (according to mediabiasfactcheck.com).
Matthew Alan Beat, or Mr. Beat, is formally a social studies teacher. He currently creates content discussing history, geography, economics, and politics. He's also a musician and writes songs/parody's on history. His videos are informative and engaging, as well as a great introduction to any topic.
The goal of the Academy of Ideas is to "further spread knowledge and freedom." With a Youtube channel, podcast, and website, the Academy of Ideas properly sources its materials and is said to be right-leaning.

Jeff Jackson is the U.S. representative for North Carolina's 14th congressional district. He produces short videos for his social media accounts outlining affairs in Congress in a clear, digestible way.
