About Me
Hello! My name is Kathleen Acevedo. I am currently a freshman at Montclair State University and I am majoring in Educational Foundations For Elementary Teachers. I am a very friendly person who loves helping and socializing with others. I enjoy working with younger kids, love shopping, being around those who love me, and watching k-dramas. I hope you all enjoy my lesson and it intrigues you enough to see a different perspective among young peoples lives!
Homelessness is a huge issue occurring amongst younger people. Which is something extremely difficult to deal with at a young age due to all of the disadvantages you will face. I will be teaching about youth homelessness and how it affects minorities drastically in the U.S today.
Throughout my lesson I will be touching into the crisis these young diverse groups are facing and how it is diminishing young human beings of their own rights and basic necessities. The goal of my lesson is to make you all feel connected to other young people in the U.S facing such issues. Lacking a home especially at such a young age puts you at tremendous risk highlighting the lack of education which is very important for the younger generation as it is what will lead them forward in life,
People experiencing homelessness are often discriminated against for their housing status and it affects their political, economic, and social rights. This is all determining their right to participate in elections, their right to work, and access to some social benefits affecting their everyday lives.
