Project KUMBATI is a community-based project initiated that focuses on combating or in Cebuano term, “kumbati,” misinformation through a one-day seminar-workshop, entitled “InfoBoard,” tackling the significance of information dissemination in combating misinformation will be recognized and the roles of social media. In particular, Facebook will be tackled by the invited resource speaker as this platform serves as the main source of information and news by netizens according to a study conducted by the Ateneo School of Government. Study results revealed that 78.8% of the survey respondents often get their news from their Facebook feed (OneNews, 2022).
The activity will be supplemented with a seminar-workshop categorized in two sessions, which are (1) Information Dissemination Effectivity of Facebook page, and (2) Ways for the Facebook page to become Successful Tool of Proper Information Dissemination, which will be facilitated by the organization members, supervised by the resource speakers, to establish a safe space for the participants to participate in the activity as they will be provided with the project outline and post-assessment activity through crafting and presenting an action plan entitled AKTIB (Abante Kabataan, Tamang Impormasyon para sa Bayan), emphasizing the (a) the identified committees of the participants in establishing a functional and engaging Facebook page as a tool for effective information dissemination and (b) the committees’ planned content on what they will publicly post on the page and will be presented to the invited concerned authorities and evaluated by the two resource speakers from the seminar-workshop to guarantee the attainment of the project’s objectives.
