How long have you been recording the podcast?

You Should Have Been a Meat Shield had its first session on 10 July 2022, we try our best to meet once a week via Roll20 & Discord. 

The game started with us playing Rime of the Frostmaiden & morphed into a Storm King's Thunder homebrew after Rime was completed.

How did you think of the name?

I was DM'ing for teenagers in the high school library that I manage, they were exploring an underground cave system when on the characters, a fighter, began to wander off.

"Come back!" the druid shouted to the fighter, "I might need you to be my meat shield!"

The fighter ignored this and kept wandering on his own, coming face-to-face with an Aboleth in an underground lake.

He panicked and tried to make his way back but failed to escape the clutches of the Aboleth. 

"You should have been a meat shield! I told you to be a meat shield but no, you had to wander off!" yelled the druid, when the fighter found himself under the control of the Aboleth.
