Young Worker's Readiness Certificate

SAFE Work Manitoba worked closely with Manitoba Employment Standards for several years to replace the Work Permit Program with the more comprehensive Youth Worker Readiness Certification Course (YWRCC), launched in 2019. As youth continue to trend as a more vulnerable worker population with a higher incidence of injury, they continue to be our focus of injury prevention concern.

All students, but particularly those 13-15 years of age, are encouraged to take the Youth Worker Readiness Certification Course before taking up any employment as it provides them with information on workplace safety and health rights and employment standards legislation. We know that the Career Development Coordinators have been very diligent with promoting and encouraging students in the province to take this on-line course, and we know that many teachers have incorporated this into their curriculum.
