By signing up for YoRo classes you are agreeing to the following:
For grades K-2 students will be walked to the instruction meet up area in the TOPS Library. For grades 3-8 students will be expected to meet at the instruction meet up area in the TOPS Library. If you think your students needs extra help during dismissal, please indicate in your registration form.
Students should be picked up at the end of their class from the courtyard entrances of the library (Wednesday pick up is at the gym), see map at the bottom of this page. Parents are responsible for collecting their children promptly from afternoon classes, that being said traffic and life happens, so don't worry, just text the director! If prompt pickup becomes a frequent issue you may be assessed an additional fee for late pick up.

Two snacks are provided for each child, if your child has dietary restrictions, we will do our best to accommodate but highly encourage you to send 2 snacks in your childs bag (not in their lunch). Please send your children with clothing appropriate for their classes and always bring a water bottle! For break times, kids may be outside in the rain and cold please include rain coats, umbrellas, and jackets.
Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. You can register at the link on the class information page. This will have you fill out and submit a google form and then PayPal will send you an invoice of how much you owe. Please pay within 48 hours of the invoice receipt to keep your spot!
Each class has a minimum number of students needed in order for the class to run (the amount needed to pay the instructor and administrative fees). In the event the class does not meet the minimum, all class fees will be refunded.
I verify that my child has been checked by a licensed physician and is physically able to participate in Young Roots Community School Programs. I hereby authorize Melissa Pico to act for me in her best judgment in any emergency requiring medical attention.
Participants assume all risks associated with normal participation the classes, including those inherent in the game of soccer (if applicable), outdoor education, and unstructured play.
By enrolling your child in an Enrichment class, you are responsible for the following:
Knowing the dates that classes occur, including start and end dates and break weeks! Check the listings carefully.
Knowing the drop-off and pickup times for classes and, most importantly, ensuring your child is picked up on time.
Ensuring your child will be able to follow behavior expectations and communicating with staff for any accommodations or special circumstances.
If you withdraw from a class, you will receive a refund based on the following schedule:
One week before class: full refund minus a $50 administrative fee.*
six days to one day before the first day of class: partial refund of cost minus a $100 administrative fee.
After the first class: no refunds
No refunds will be given if a child violates behavior expectations and is asked not to return to YoRo (see below for behavior expectations).
*If class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be notified as soon as possible and will be given priority to switch to another class (space permitting) or receive a full refund.
If you are needing a scholarship, email youngrootscs@gmail.com and our Director will work with you! Each class has 2 scholarship spots reserved. Scholarships spots will be reserved until 1 week before class starts.
Each class has access to a first aid kit, and staff will use bandaids, antibiotic ointment, anti-itch relief, saline wound wash, saline eye drops, and other first aid equipment to treat any injuries. Parents will be notified of any injuries or head trauma requiring follow up, but will not be notified of minor scraps or bumps.
In the case of evacuation or other unforeseen emergencies, students will be evacuated to either rogers playground or Roanoke playground (across the i-5 bridge). Parents will be notified by email if this is the case.
Students are expected to:
Stay with the group and instructor,
Be respectful to instructors, communicate concerns respectfully,
Be a model for their peers.
Students must follow instructor directions and avoid distracting peers
No fighting, cussing, or hurtful treatment to peers or instructors
No bullying or hate speech
Students will be given one warning (parents will be notified) and then may be asked not to return if issues continue (no refunds)
Responsible phone use is allowed for communicating about pick up (no social media or YouTube use allowed). If use is deemed not responsible by director, phone use will not be allowed
No computers at YoRo unless they are a part of the registered class
If your child is not able to follow the behavior expectations, you may be asked not to return to YoRo with no refund possible. If you have concerns about behavior with your child, please email youngrootscs@gmail.com so we can work together to create a behavior plan for your child.
If you child leaves or forgets items during YoRo classes, they will be taken to the TOPS lost and found near the lunchroom unless otherwise communicated by the Director.
For picking up in a car, take roanoke and pull into TOPS parking lot staying to the right and wrapping around to arrive up to the courtyard, park and walk into the courtyard and to the door by the library to pick up (or gym door on Wednesday)!
