Testimonials
As a pastor, mother and Christian leader I can tell you that working with Young Life has been a joy. First in New York City and now in Los Angeles, I find that working alongside Young Life makes sense for our church and our community. At the Dream Center/Angeles Temple, we have a city-wide impact and have enjoyed working with Young Life in a number of different communities through the collaboration of our staff and volunteers with a vision for helping students meet Christ and follow Him for the rest of their lives.
I would recommend partnering with Young Life if you desire to reach young people right where they are. Young Life gives you the tools and confidence to reach out to schools in your area and begin the conversation. I always had the strong desire to reach youth beyond the church walls. Young Life has a proven plan to reach young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. For me it was a no brainer.
We love partnering with Young Life because of their mission to reach kids where they are with the love of Christ. Young Life provides a relational way for churches to get their people involved in God's mission to reach youth outside the walls of the church. Those from our church who have served as volunteer leaders and committee members have grown in their discipleship, as they have been involved in God's mission to reach youth in their communities. As someone who has been personally impacted by the ministry of Young Life, I am thankful that we get to be a part of what God is doing through this ministry.
The Need
One of the greatest needs in our world today is effective youth ministry. The youth are frequently referred to the future when in fact they are a vital part of the body of Christ today. Many young people who grow up in church are struggling to find a “fit” in the local church, and other responsibilities and interests are demanding their time and attention. And the vast majority of "unchurched" teens in our communities will never participate in a traditional youth ministry without a relational conduit.
A Solution
A creative solution to these problems is being found in an exciting collaboration bringing Young Life and local congregations to share the good news of Jesus both inside and outside the doors of the local church.
For over eighty years, Young Life has been involved in specialized ministry to adolescents. This collaboration is a way to link Young Life’s expertise and a local congregation’s resources together. The institutional church needs the enthusiasm and skills Young Life brings to youth ministry. Young Life needs the stability and ongoing sense of community that the church offers to young people.
The rest of this site is designed to give some ideas & tools to further explore this idea and the best practices of YL and churches working closely together for a maximized kingdom impact on kids.
