Dear Innovators,
As we close out an incredible school year, we want to take a moment to celebrate YOU our principals, coordinators, teachers, and specialists who helped bring Year 1 of the Advanced Curriculum implementation to life. Your dedication, collaboration, and creativity transformed our vision into a vibrant reality for students across our feeder pattern. Thank you for making our pilot year such a success!
First-ever Young Innovators Summer Academy launched across 3 campuses with hands-on, student-centered enrichment
Showcased student growth through innovative projects and STEM-based learning
TOY at all participating campuses are currently AC teachers
All classrooms maintained an (A) AMM in RLA and A/B AMM in Math
We are officially in Phase 3 of planning for Year 2 of YISA. Participating principals can refer to the Phase 3 email sent earlier this month for access to updated resources, planning tools, and timelines. Let’s keep the momentum going!
This summer, we will offer YISA professional development opportunities via Zoom. These sessions are designed to equip teachers with new strategies, curriculum updates, and collaborative planning time. All sessions will be recorded and shared for flexible access.
Congratulations, Paula Pineda!
Please join us in congratulating Paula Pineda for being named District Teacher of the Year! Her passion, innovation, and unwavering commitment to students embody the spirit of YISA. We are incredibly proud to have her on our team.

While the expectation was just one STEM challenge per marking period, this powerhouse team submitted a challenge for every single chapter and concept turning their classrooms into year-round innovation labs. Their dedication to hands-on, inquiry-based learning is a model of what it means to go the extra mile for students.

As we wrap up Year 1 of the Advanced Curriculum implementation, I want to take a moment to say thank you truly.
Your flexibility, patience, and willingness to embrace something new made all the difference this year. We know this work stretched you in new ways, and yet you showed up for your students, for each other, and for the vision we’re building together.
Thank you for submitting student artifacts month after month. Because of you, we were able to proudly feature the brilliance happening across classrooms in seven different newsletters from August through May. Each submission was a celebration of innovation, creativity, and student voice.
This work is only possible because of the heart and commitment each of you brings. We see it, we appreciate it, and we are so grateful to be in this with you.
With sincere gratitude,
Ms. Harris, Advanced Curriculum Coordinator
