We are Chi Eta Sigma, the honor society for graduate students in the Counseling Education program at Purdue University Fort Wayne--and the organizers of the You Matter 5K.
Our mission
As future counselors, we're passionate about giving back to our community and promoting mental wellness for all. We are constantly striving to further our education in order to better serve those who are struggling and become the most effective, compassionate counselors we can be.
Through our graduate program at Purdue Fort Wayne, we offer free, confidential counseling services to individuals and couples throughout the Fort Wayne area in the Dolnick Center, our on-campus community counseling clinic. Funds raised at events like this help to enhance our training and professional development as we prepare to serve others in the field of mental health.
You Matter 5K Mission
The You Matter 5K was created from the heart—because too many people are suffering in silence. For me, and for so many others, mental health isn’t just a cause—it’s personal.
Our mission is to raise awareness, break the stigma, and remind every person that you are not alone. We want to shine a light on the reality of mental health struggles, provide access to resources, and create a space where it’s okay to talk about how you’re really doing.
This event is about more than running or walking—it’s about starting conversations, showing up for one another, and building a community where people feel seen, supported, and valued, no matter their situation.
Together, we can bring mental health out of the shadows and into the open—where it belongs. 🩵
