These are pictures of the stream at my site. The water level is much lower than it was in previous years and the end of the stream curves in a different direction! Today's weather was sunny and warm, and the average temperature of the stream water I measured was 8.7 degrees Celsius. The conductivity averaged at 190 uS/cm, and I estimated the pH at 6.7. The habitat assessment scored 148/200.
The E. Coli collection went mostly well. The growth powder was less of a powder and more of a blob, but I got it out of the bag eventually. Some of the mixture did get onto the lid of the box I was provided, which was then bleached. The sample has been left above my fridge to wait, and after putting it in a second bag does not smell.
I did my best to imitate the path of the stream, the amount and flow of water at different points, and the slope of the hills it lies between.
There was this log with moss and little orange mushrooms on it. I saw it and immediately knew I had to sketch it, which was a nice break from crouching to take temperature measurements.
