First of all i want to confirm that whether the frequencies shown in spectrograms are pitch frequencies like the way we say humans can only hear 20Hz to 20kHz? I checked out a hearing test. In it i found even the 15kHz frequency to be too sharp, why would i want anything sharper (higher pitch) to be in my music? Spectrogram of my 320kbps mp3 file goes till 22k in Audacity and till 20kHz in Spek. Converting the file to 128kbps constant bit rate, it goes little above 15 in both the programs. If spectrogram frequency is pitch frequency then why would i want to go above 128kbps in mp3? Given that even the 15kHz pitch isn't soothing to hear.
