Care Packages for the Homeless
Hi there! My name is Madelyn Schmidt. Over the past several months, I have been making personal care packages for the homeless population in Asheville. These packages include snacks, wet wipes, masks, socks, feminine products, and other necessities. The need for basic supplies like these is overwhelming. These are simple items that we all just take for granted. The homeless population is one who has been hit especially hard by COVID-19. After trying to distribute on my own, I found a great organization, 12 Baskets Cafe, managed by Asheville Poverty Initiative, to take them on a weekly basis. I am asking the community for donations so I can continue to help the homeless people in Asheville.
These personal hygiene supplies are so important for homeless and low income people here in Asheville who are being hit hard by COVID-19. Something as small as a pair of socks or a pack of crackers can truly make a difference.
One bag costs $4.50 to make. If you could donate $4.50 (or more!), I promise that I will put one of these bags into the hands of someone who really needs it.
