Fast forward to the present day and we find the Baxter Building in the heart of Manhattan. The apartment building where the four met during the days at Columbia University was destroyed in attack on Manhattan and subsequently bought out by Reed Richards and converted into a community science centre and living area for the think tank that has since been dubbed by the media as the Fantastic Four.

So who, then, could capture the multiverse-in-a-brain capacity of Franklin Richards? The tough thing about this pick is that unless the film was currently in pre-production, anyone I name will age out of the role in the next few years. That being said, Jacob Tremblay impressed me so much in The Predator (about the only thing that did impress me in that movie) that I believe he has the range and the presence to make Franklin feel as empathetic and powerful as he is meant to be.

Fantastic Four is a 2005 American superhero film based on the superhero team of the same name, and released by 20th Century Fox. It is the second live-action Fantastic Four film to be filmed. The previous attempt, a B-movie produced by Roger Corman only for the purpose of retaining the film rights, was never intended for a theatrical release. The film is directed by Tim Story and stars Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Jessica Alba as Susan Storm/Invisible Woman, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm/The Thing, Julian McMahon as Victor Von Doom/Dr. Doom and Kerry Washington as Alicia Masters. Despite getting major hype on its release and becoming a box office success, the film was quite negatively received by critics. The film was released in the United States on July 8, 2005.

I'm curious to see how they manage to tell the story as maybe... what a "period" piece? Set during the '60's space race? How are they going to get all four of these people in a "stolen" rocket launch. That's totally bonkers comics. It works as a comic book story... but how does that work in a film "reality"? A genius takes his girlfriend, her kid brother and his (the genius's) best friend into space on a "stolen" rocket launch... The first film made some kind of sense, with Victor funding the project... Still, a modern take would have some kind of Elon Musk spin. Set in the '60's it would be NASA. I don't think women astronauts came about until the Space Shuttle...

And even if it's not the case, I'm still almost certain this is not the 616 MCU so either way Shalla-Ball will be the Surfer only in this alternate universe for this movie while setting up Norrin to be Surfer in the main universe

First of all, don't make them kids. Johnny should be young; the others should be a little older. Second, and this is the big one, give up on realism. This is a midcentury Space Age romp, and you need to adapt it as such. I wouldn't set it in the past, but in a colorful, semi-retro sci fi neverland. Think of the Speed Racer movie. In fact, the Wachowskis would be great directors for this too.

And please, stop trying to tie Dr. Doom into the origin of their powers. He has a history with Reed, but he only shows back up after the Four emerge as superheroes. He doesn't have powers of his own, just a suit of hi-tech armor and a bunch of robots. Ideally, he shouldn't even be the villain in the first movie. Set him up, sure, but don't spotlight him until the sequel. I've included Galactus and the Silver Surfer in the cast, but ideally they shouldn't show up until the third movie. The first movie will show the origin (with a rocketship and everything!) and then bring in the Puppet Master as a villain.

I honestly considered keeping Michael B. Jordan in this part, since he's capable of so much better than that other movie let him do. But I decided to concede that that's not how franchise reboots work, and came up with another incredibly handsome up-and-coming actor to play the team's literal hotshot.

This is how you cast Victor Von Doom. He's not young, he's not American, and while he might be handsome (mask and scars aside), the main emphasis should be on how scary he is. Mikkelsen is too perfect a Doom for Fox to ever be smart enough to cast him. And don't tell me he can't be in this movie because he's in Doctor Strange, considering how the old Human Torch became Captain America.

Every Fantastic Four movie to date has blown harder than Doctor Doom when he got his hands on the Sea Horn, but they all blew in their own unique, special ways. Like snowflakes in a pile of piss-yellow snow.

The movie could still have its darker moments, of course. It SHOULD have its darker moments, especially with Reed Richards, who is possibly one of the biggest douchebags in all of Marvel comics. Which, you know, makes sense, considering that he is apparently one of the inspirations for Rick from Rick and Morty. Consequently, the perfect Fantastic Four movie should be fun and vivid and celebrate the wonders of the space age and scientific curiosity while also pulling back the curtain and finding darkness, drama, and human misery underneath the colorful faade. Basically, it should be like Mad Men with laser guns.

Between 2002 and 2008, Chiklis played a detective named Vic Mackey on the drama series "The Shield." He also guest-starred on "Sons of Anarchy" and played a strongman named Dell Toledo on season four of "American Horror Story."

After the Marvel movie, Holden played Andrea Harrison on the first three seasons of AMC's "The Walking Dead," had a recurring role on seasons five and six of FX's "The Americans," and guest-starred on an episode of "Chicago Fire." 589ccfa754
