This policy explains what Yosora does with your information. The short version: Yosora has no accounts and no server of ours, we collect nothing about you, and we never sell your data. There is no sign-in, and nothing you read is sent to us.
1. What we collect Nothing. We operate no server, no analytics and no user accounts, so there is no personal information for us to receive, store or share.
1.1 No account. Yosora has no sign-up, no login and no profile. We never ask for your name, email address or any other identifier.
1.2 What Apple may share with us. If you have agreed with Apple to share diagnostics and usage with developers, Apple may give us aggregate, anonymised statistics through App Store Connect — crash counts, how many devices ran a version. These come from Apple already combined across users, are not linked to you, and we cannot use them to identify anyone. You control this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
2. What stays on your device Everything the app creates lives only on your iPhone or iPad: • The books you import, and the files themselves • Your collections, bookmarks, highlights and notes • Reading positions, reading time, streaks and goals • Your reading preferences (theme, font, layout)
None of it is uploaded to us. We cannot see it, and we could not retrieve it if you asked.
3. When the app uses the network Yosora reaches the network in three situations, all started by you: • Downloading a book from a link you paste. The request goes to whatever server hosts that file. We are not involved and receive nothing. • Purchasing or restoring a subscription. See section 4. • iCloud sync, if you turn it on. See section 5.
Reading a book you already have never requires a connection.
4. Payments and subscriptions All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment card details, and no payment information passes through the app. What we receive is whether a subscription is currently active — nothing that identifies you.
5. iCloud sync If you turn sync on, your library, reading positions, collections and marks are copied to your own private iCloud storage, under your Apple Account. They are not sent to us and we have no way to read them. Sync is off until you enable it, and turning it off stops it.
What syncs is the record of a book — its title, your place in it, your marks — never the book file itself, so syncing cannot quietly fill up your iCloud storage.
6. Advertising This version of Yosora shows no advertising. No ads are requested or displayed, you are not asked for permission to track, and nothing is collected for advertising purposes.
The Google AdMob SDK is compiled into the app but switched off, so it makes no requests and collects nothing. Should a future version turn advertising on, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the date above will change with it.
7. Notifications If you turn on reading reminders, the app schedules them locally on your device. Yosora uses no push notifications and holds no push token — no notification is sent through a server, and nothing about your reading is transmitted.
8. Third-party components Yosora includes third-party software: the Readium toolkit, which opens and renders EPUB, PDF and CBZ files entirely on your device, and the Google AdMob SDK described in section 6, which is inactive in this version. Neither sends us anything about you.
We use no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK and no advertising attribution SDK of our own.
9. Storage and security Your data is held on your device and protected by iOS's own file protection, which encrypts it while the device is locked. If you enable sync, Apple secures the copy in your iCloud account under Apple's terms.
We hold no copy of your data, so there is no database of ours that could be breached and no personnel of ours with access to your reading.
10. Data retention We retain nothing, because we receive nothing. What the app stores stays on your device until you delete it or delete the app. The aggregate statistics described in section 1.2 are held by Apple under Apple's own retention rules, not by us.
11. Your rights Because we hold no data about you, the rights below are satisfied by the app's design rather than by a request to us.
11.1 Everywhere. Deleting the app removes what it stored on the device. If you used iCloud sync, remove Yosora's data from Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
11.2 European Union and United Kingdom (GDPR). You have the right to access, correct, export or erase personal data a company holds about you, and to complain to your data protection authority. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to produce or delete. Your data sits on your device and, if you enabled sync, in your own iCloud account — both under your control, not ours.
11.3 California (CCPA/CPRA). We do not collect, sell or share personal information. There is no sale to opt out of, no category of collected information to disclose, and nothing you could be discriminated against for requesting.
12. Children Yosora is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, of any age.
13. Apple-specific disclosures iCloud sync uses Apple's iCloud service and is governed by Apple's privacy policy as well as this one. Purchases are governed by Apple's terms. Yosora does not use Sign in with Apple, and holds no push notification token — its reminders are scheduled locally on the device.
14. Changes If this policy changes, the date above changes with it, and the current version is always available at the link in the app and on the App Store listing.
