Electrical resistivity structure beneath fault zones, strain concentration area, and volcanic zones

• We reveal a 3-D resistivity structure beneath Asama Volcano, Japan.

• We imaged a 3-D resistivity structure beneath the Iheya North Knoll, the middle Okinawa Trough.

• We revealed localized  lower-crustal conductivity anomalies beneath active faults of a strain concentration zone.

• We revealed a 3-D resistivity structure suggesting the coexistence of two strain-concentration mechanisms in a strain-concentration area.

Forward calculation and inversion methods for electromagnetic survey

• I developed an MT inversion method using tetrahedral elements.

• We developed a data-space MT inversion method using tetrahedral elements.

• We developed a 2-D combined inversion code of  MT data and Network-MT data.

Robust data analysis methods for magnetotellurics

• We developed a new robust remote reference estimator with the aid of robust multivariate linear regression.

• I applied a robust filter and robust PARCOR for the prewhitening of magnetotelluric data.

• We applied the fast and robust bootstrap method to robust remote reference methods and verified its effectiveness. 

Mixing models of electrical conductivity

• I developed theoretical electrical conductivity models for transversely isotropic rocks with interconnected cracks/tubes. Python scripts for computing anisotropic conductivity are available from GitHub.
