The York Hiking Club was formed in1932. Many of the early club activities continue today. All are open to the public with the exception of the Turkey Dinner in November, which is members-only event. A monthly newsletter announces short, medium, and long day hikes, extended hiking trips, and covered-dish socials with presentations. Trail maintenance work trips, JPJ cabin work days, and board and committee meetings are also listed.
The annual pork and sauerkraut hike (January), chili hike (February), wildflower hike (April), Memorial Day and Labor Day events at JPJ cabin are open to all. The JPJ cabin is also available for members to rent.
We are an official maintaining club of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and support the Wrightsville to Norman Wood Bridge section of the Mason-Dixon Trail. Trail maintenance work trips are held throughout the year, and all are welcome to participate.
