ARC9201-01-00 Structural Health Monitoring

This course provides methodologies for applications of structural health monitoring (SHM) based on the structural dynamics. Through measurement techniques as well as model construction approaches, students will learn SHM techniques to ensure safety of building structures. Specifically, sensing techniques, model updating, system identification, and damage detection will be addressed in this semester. In addition, two special lectures with related to AI-based system identification and long-term SHM methods.

ARC5601-01-00 Machine Learning and Structural Engineering

In this lecture, methodologies for applications of the machine learning to handle various types of data that can be extracted from building structures will be discussed. To this end, fundamentals and mathematical expressions of artificial neural networks are examined. Techniques for structural design of concrete beam structure and dealing with structural response data and recovering data of the structures are investigated using ANN. In addition, basic architectures and learning mechanisms of deep learnings will be introduced. Using deep learning, methods for constructing models for predicting wind-induced structural responses and seismic responses will be discussed.

Undergraduate Course

ARC2201-01-00 Introduction to Architectural Structure

Basic concept and theory of building structure are introduced and discussed. Fundamentals of various structural systems are discussed. Through investigation and presentation for case studies, the principle of building structure is comprehended.
