The Responsible Recommendation and AI (R2AI) group is a vibrant and collaborative reading and research community dedicated to advancing the frontier of responsible artificial intelligence, with a special emphasis on fairness, transparency, accountability, and robustness in recommender systems. Comprising 8 faculty members and a dynamic cohort of HDR researchers, the group includes 15 PhD students, 1 Master’s student, and 1 Honours student, forming a diverse and energetic environment that blends deep expertise with emerging talent. R2AI meets weekly to engage with the latest developments in the field, critically evaluate new research, and explore emerging challenges in responsible recommendation and AI. These sessions not only ensure that members remain at the cutting edge of the literature but also provide structured training for HDR students—supporting their methodological development, strengthening their presentation and communication skills, and fostering a culture of constructive academic exchange. Beyond internal development, R2AI actively contributes to the broader research community by inviting external speakers, sharing ongoing work, and cultivating cross-disciplinary dialogue. Together, the group is committed to shaping the future of responsible AI research through rigorous study, open collaboration, and continuous learning.
