Biostatistics/Machine Learning and Medical Big Data meet in my lab. We develop novel statistical and machine learning methods to detect patterns and statistical dependencies in large-scale datasets from medicine. Our research interests are not only in the development of new theories, but also in medical applications of cutting-edge machine learning models such as Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning. In addition, through collaborative research, we also conduct analysis of population-health/genomic data and clinical trial design.

I’m Daisuke Yoneoka (米岡大輔), an independent research scientist at National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Japan, working on theoretical aspects of biostatistics and machine learning for personalized medicine and infectious diseases. I received Ph.D. (Statistics) in 2016 at the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI) and started my postdoc in USA (St. Jude Children's Research Hospital) and Switzerland (ETH Zurich).
I am broadly interested in the field of biostatistics and machine learning, with a special focus on the application of personalized medicine. I’m very keen on applying mathematics/statistics to medicine/epidemiology/public health.
I like baseball, traveling, beer, caffeine, math, and my friends (with a special passion for my family).
