LithoSphere is an educational 3D interactive globe designed to be fully functional without requiring you to hand over personal information.

• No Accounts Required: You do not need to create an account, register, or log in to use the App.

• No Personal Information: We do not collect, store, share, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, phone number, location, or device identifiers.

• No Telemetry or Tracking: We do not use analytics algorithms, cookies, tracking pixels, or advertisement trackers to monitor your usage of the App.

2. Third-Party Services & Network Requests

To render the interactive 3D globe and retrieve geographic datasets, LithoSphere makes direct network requests to trusted third-party providers. When loading these assets, your device connects directly to their servers, which may process standard network headers (such as your IP address) to facilitate the connection.

We utilize the following essential third-party services:

• CesiumJS & Cesium Ion

  • Purpose: Renders the 3D globe environment, terrain models, and interactive user controls.

  • Data Transmitted: Standard HTTP request headers (e.g., IP address, user-agent, request timestamps) necessary to load 3D assets.

• Esri (ArcGIS Online)

  • Purpose: Loads the base satellite imagery layers (World Imagery) to display global terrain textures.

  • Data Transmitted: Map tile requests, including coordinates and standard HTTP request headers.

• Google Fonts

  • Purpose: Serves modern, legible typography dynamically to the user interface.

3. Device Permissions

To function properly and deliver a seamless 3D experience, the App requires the following standard system permissions:

• Internet Access (INTERNET): Required to fetch map tiles, 3D assets, and typography from the third-party services listed above. Note: Without internet access, the 3D globe will fail to load.

• Network State (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Used to check for an active internet connection so the App can display appropriate offline notices or fallbacks.

Our Promise: We do not—and will never—request access to sensitive device permissions such as your camera, microphone, contacts, local storage, or precise GPS location.

4. Children’s Privacy

LithoSphere is designed for a general audience, including students and educators of all ages. Because the App operates locally and collects absolutely zero personal data, it is fully compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) regarding minors. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children.
