This is NOT a competition neither does it have any rewards.
The objective is to not only get some of us out of our own mundane bubbles but also to create wacky stuff. What matters here is mostly the IDEA you have and not necessarily the execution.
Basic guidelines:
- The deadline is 11th of April. It may look like we have a lot of time in hands, but we don't. If I notice most of us can't meet that deadline, I'll delay it once again.
- You are encouraged to mix and mash assets from previously existing games. Take Gabriel's game for example (embed image). Most of it is just reused from SMB1 or Zelda II and it's great.
- Your project does not need to be a fully fledged out game, in fact it shouldn't be. Focus on how it plays and feels. If you have one fledged out stage which showcases the original concepts for how your game plays out that is great. We rather have tons of shitty games that has some really creative gameplay elements then a generic platformer which you just jump and attack for 20 stages that have no soul in them. It essentially needs to be a proof of concept, as if you were pitching your game idea to everyone here. Get the most important concepts/ mechanics of it in this 'demo'.
- You can feel free to invite someone to collaborate with you on your project.
