Week 3
Week 3
Week 3 was all about map design and knowing we had changed our idea, I was set on making race track designs. I proposed some designs to the team but none of them seemed to please any of us and it was from there that i said why dont we make them based off of something that already exists. Kyle mentioned that we should do some Formula 1 race tracks and I suggested that to keep in the theme of our idea to make a map based off of touge roads that can be located in Japan.
These were my initial ideas for the race tracks. i made these in an adobe software by using a line tool so that i could randomly draw some sketches.
This is the touge map that I will be working on. one thing that occurred in my thought process was that I couldn't find a good enough image that was a full loop so I've had to make up part of the map so that you end up back at the start.
These are the F1 tracks that will be made and to make sure that me and Kyle have an even amount of work he decided that he will do the F1 tracks as well as him knowing more about F1 in general.
To make this road I used a line tool to draw over the map which I have imported onto a plane. The first few issues was to do with the faces clipping, so after some readjusting and making the tight corners smooth I then got the swift tool and added 4 loops. I put two of them on each side so that I would have some thin faces that go all the way around the track. I proceeded to then select these faces and change the colour of them to white so that it would look like the markings that are found on Japanese roads to signal where the edge of the road is. I also added a white line that goes across the track to identify where the tracks starts and finishes.
