I am a Professor in the department of Physics at California State University, Northridge.
I work on computational biophysics with an emphasis on cardiac arrythmias. Visit my research page for more information.
short bio
I am originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I went to high school in the International Community School (ICS) in Addis, and went on to get my undergraduate degree in physics from Franklin & Marshall college in quaint Lancaster, PA. I then did my PhD in Physics at the University of Pittsburgh. I initially worked with J.D. Crawford on nonlinear dynamics, and after his unfortunate passing, completed my thesis on spin glass theory under Professor Yadin Goldschmidt. I then switched fields to cardiac biophysics working with Alain Karma in Northeastern University, Boston. I completed my training at the UCLA school of medicine under Dr. Jim Weiss(MD), a pioneer in the applications of nonlinear dynamics in cardiology. I have been at CSUN since 2006.
