The Yew Nork Tims started as a small newspaper stand on 9th avenue near where we are headquartered today.Â
1964
on April 4th 1964 our building was destroyed in a fire that decimated the downtown of Lancaster.
By the time police officers and the fire department reached the fire our building was reduced to rubble. So we rebuilt our building from 1964 to 1971.
In 1973 we realized the news business in Lancaster was little and outdated so we started an amateur news station with 24 hour news and music of the times.
With what little money we had we bought a small printing press and started making newspapers for the people of Lancaster!
In 1986 we wanted to reach more people so we bought a old news station. this was the time we finally adopted the name of the Yew Nork Tims. our call sign was YNTNEWS24H
In 1998 our building was hit by a misfired airstrike. Nobody was hurt but it damaged much of our archives and offices. we are currently trying to sue the us government for the millions of dollars in damages but have been unsuccessful
In 2008 we went into massive debt and had most of our building siezed
In 2023 we went digital with The Yew Nork Tims Online. We also realized we lost all our old archives and we currently trying to find or restore our old newspapers. if you have any old recordings or papers of the Yew Nork Tims earlier days please contact us!
