Metallurgical Engineering

Mrs. Maria Taxiarchou graduated from the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering in 1987 and received her Ph.D. in the field of hydrometallurgy in 1991.

Her main research areas include: the development of metallurgical processes for the treatment of ores and industrial minerals; the development of high value-added products from ores and industrial minerals for applications in the construction and chemical industries; life cycle analysis of products and industrial processes; design and techno-economic evaluation of production processes; valorization of metallurgical wastes and production of high value-added products from them; optimization of energy processes for application in buildings and local networks; and optimization of metallurgical processes aimed at reducing their energy requirements. She has 45 publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings.
