Conference Format

On most days we plan to have a mix of 50 minute mini-course lectures, 20 minute invited talks and 3 minute invited lightning talks from 9am till 5pm.

Conference Special Events

August 5th

Reception: We plan to host a drinks reception after the first full day of talks, although this has yet to be confirmed.

August 6th

OAMN Event: Operator Algebras Mentor Network (OAMN) is hosting a happy hour for all YMC*A participants who belong to its Mentee Target Group, consisting of those who are underrepresented or in minority within mathematics due to gender. At the happy hour, they will set up a discussion on various topics that are especially relevant for the Mentee Target Group.

Ceilidh: In the late evening we will be hosting a Ceilidh, which is a traditional Scottish dance led by a band playing Scottish folk music. There is no need to find a partner for this type of dance, and you can drop in and out whenever you like.

August 7th

Afternoon excursions: Talks on this day will end at noon. In the afternoon there will be three hosted excursions you can choose from!

August 8th

Career Panel: In the afternoon there will be a panel consisting of UK based mathematicians who have recently secured permanent positions. The focus of the panel will be on career advice and it will be audience-question-driven. On the panel we have Christian Bönicke (Newcastle), Chris Bruce (Newcastle), Nora Szakacs (Manchester) and Runlian Xia (Glasgow).

Conference dinner: In the evening we will have the conference dinner at the Glasgow University Union.
