There is an ever-increasing need for novel and functional materials that our society demands. Better utilization of bio-based materials is a promising approach. Tackling this problem with a experimental materials science approach, the Kim Research Group at Mississippi State University strives to foster a supportive, inclusive, and diverse environment that values contributions and perspectives of all group members.

We utilize experimental materials science, polymer science, and physical chemistry approaches that interface bio-derived and fossil fuel-based materials in order to develop novel and functional materials, which include nanocomposites, nanofibers, and coatings for applications in buildings, energy, and electronics.
