Our group at the Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences  cools atoms down to Bose-Einstein Condensates and trapped them with laser beams. We use these ultracold atoms to build synthetic quantum materials within and beyond condensed matter models to explore quantum many-body physics as well as topological states of matter.
