Yiwei (Derek) Wang

I am an Assistant Professor at Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS) and a Researcher at the International Research Center for Data Science.

I received my Ph.D. in Management from the University of California, Irvine, and my B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley.

My research asks how AI and digital platforms can improve service delivery and operational performance. I pursue this agenda through two connected themes:

1. Human-AI collaboration and service operations. I study how customers and workers interact with AI, and how organizations design AI-enabled services and human interventions.

2. Retail and platform operations. I examine how retail and e-commerce platforms shape consumer behavior and operational decisions, including omnichannel retail and subscription services.

My work combines field experiments and causal inference with machine learning and analytical modeling.
