I'm interested in using the semiclassical gravitational path integral as a tool to gain new insights on problems such as the black hole information puzzle, global symmetry violations in quantum gravity, and finding the quantum mechanical description of de Sitter spacetime.
A selection of my papers on these topics are:
Signatures of global symmetry violation in relative entropies and replica wormholes (with Henry Lin)
Bra-ket wormholes in gravitationally prepared states (with Victor Gorbenko and Juan Maldacena)
On the phase of the de Sitter density of states (with Douglas Stanford, Haifeng Tang and Zhenbin Yang)
Another major focus of mine in recent years is to bridge ideas from semiclassical gravity and the UV string theory or the microscopic dual superconformal field theories. A central question is "what is a black hole microstate in string theory?"
A selection of my papers on this topic are:
BPS chaos (with Henry Lin and Stephen Shenker)
On the black hole/string transition (with Juan Maldacena and Edward Witten)
Fortuity in SYK models (with Chi-Ming Chang, Bik Soon Sia and Zhenbin Yang)
