“Fair grading. Understanding what the point of the class really is.”

“Dr. Xu was very helpful to students if they didn’t understand material or had questions about the material and was always very fast to respond to emails. He was very understanding when I personally had to miss class. Great professor.”

“The global interest in the world I now have I attribute to this class and my instructor. I find myself truly listening to the news and what is happening in other places and even understanding more about how and why it is occurring. I really appreciate the availability of Alan and his flexibility and his great kindness. Thanks so much. Alan!!”

“I returned to school after many years absence and selected this class as it sounded interesting when reading the course description. Once I started attending the lectures, it was clear to me. The instructor knows the material very well and presented it in an organized fashion. The combination of economic theory, agricultural practices, food trends and population changes were very timely and relevant to the news today, and the examples provided for each chapter helped to reinforce the concepts presented. The student presentations at the end of the semester were extremely interesting. Class diversity influenced each presenter’s style and choice of information presented about the country they selected. I would highly recommend this class to others. Mr. Xu is an engaging teacher and works hard to make each class interesting.”
