Inspired by Prof. Hidefusa Iida and Prof. Martin Schmalz (The Ownership Project, https://corporateownershipdata.com/), The Japan Ownership Project (JOP) contains disclosure information including Schedule 13D, Form N-PORT, strategic shareholdings record by listed companies, and proxy voting record by institution investors.
While common ownership is an important issue around the world, the traditionally close relationship between listed companies and major institutional investors in Japan could exacerbate the severity of this problem. Our goal is to increase transparency regarding the activities of institutional investors and listed companies in Japan.
