Originally from Florida, Heather has lived in Wisconsin for most of her life. Her formal educational experience began as a first grader in Milwaukee Public Schools, and eventually took her to Wauwatosa where she attended Lincoln, Longfellow, and East.
As a child growing up economically disadvantaged and with a disability, Heather understands the challenges many of our students and families face. She believes all children deserve the resources and support they need to thrive - socially, emotionally, and academically - regardless of their household income, family structure, race, ethnicity, disability status, background or identity.
Heather has three children in Wauwatosa Schools who all require various additional support to access their education. She has been involved with special education for over 12 years, advocating for her own children and others, while supporting families.
When she isn’t working her full time job or shuttling kids to sports and activities, you can find her spending time outdoors, tackling home renovation projects, and volunteering at the Wisconsin Humane Society. Occasionally you may even see her walking a foster dog around her neighborhood.
