Who is at risk of being targeted, questioned and or detained?
Under Trump’s proposed mass deportation plan, several groups would be at heightened risk of being targeted, questioned, and detained, including:
Undocumented Immigrants
Those living in the U.S. without legal status, regardless of how long they’ve been in the country or whether they have families here.
Legal Immigrants with Past Offenses
Green card holders and visa holders with any kind of criminal record, even minor offenses, could face increased scrutiny and potential deportation.
Asylum Seekers & Refugees
Those with pending asylum claims or Temporary Protected Status (TPS) could be at risk if Trump ends protections for certain groups, as he has previously attempted.
Mixed-Status Families
Households with both legal residents and undocumented individuals might face raids and detentions, potentially leading to family separations.
Latinos & Other Immigrant Communities
Even U.S. citizens who "look" like immigrants, especially Latinos and other people of color, could face increased racial profiling, questioning, and harassment from law enforcement or immigration authorities.
DACA Recipients ("Dreamers")
While mixed messages have been given on DACA, Trump has previously attempted to end protections for Dreamers, putting them at risk if no new safeguards are in place.
Workers in Certain Industries
Sectors that rely heavily on immigrant labor, such as agriculture, construction, and service industries, may see more workplace raids and detentions.
