Key Technologies for Next Generation Mobile Devices - Heterogeneous Computing and Wireless Communications, Sep. 2014 - Dec. 2017.
A three-year national project, sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan (MOST) and MediaTek, targeting 5G development. Our lab focused on the research of non-orthogonal multicarrier waveforms. My contributions were to
propose a new idea of embedding a block-based modulation in a multicarrier modulation via a DFT interface, hence the transmitted signal inherits desired characterizations from the embedded modulator,
propose a new waveform called circularly pulse-shaped OFDM (CPS-OFDM) featuring a generalized low-complexity DFT-based subband precoder structure with properties of low out-of-subband emission and low peak-to-average power ratio, and
actively participate 3GPP RAN1#85, #86, and #86bis meetings as a delegate of National Taiwan University to promote our ideas with several published technical documents and cosigned way forward documents.
Improving Areal-Spectral Efficiency with Small Cell and D2D Technologies, Feb. 2013 - May 2015.
A three-year project sponsored by ASUSTeK. Our lab focused on device-to-device (D2D) discovery and communication. My contributions were to
propose a resource hopping mechanism for D2D Type 2B discovery, and
actively participate 3GPP RAN1#74-78 meetings as a delegate of ASUSTeK to promote our ideas with several published technical documents and email discussions.
NTU-HT Collaboration Project on LTE/LTE-A Research, Feb. 2011 - Apr. 2012.
A one-year project, supported by HT mMobile Inc., activated my social network in the field of communication engineering and also motivated me to pursue the Ph.D. degree.
Investigated the baseband channel estimation algorithms and over-the-air (OTA) channel measurement of 4G LTE MIMO-OFDM systems.
