February Reset: A Quiet Return to Your Body
February sits in an interesting space. The rush of the new year has settled, but the momentum of spring hasn’t arrived yet. For many people, this is when stress lingers, motivation dips, and the body begins to speak up: tight shoulders, shallow breathing, disrupted sleep.
Instead of pushing harder, this month is an opportunity to regulate, restore, and reset.
Care doesn’t need to be dramatic. It can look like:
Going to bed 30 minutes earlier
Drinking an extra 16 oz of water daily
Stepping outside for 10 minutes of sunlight
Booking bodywork before pain becomes chronic
Small, consistent inputs shift the nervous system more effectively than occasional extremes.
Cold weather, reduced daylight, and post-holiday stress often increase muscular tension and sympathetic (fight-or-flight) activation. Therapeutic massage helps:
Lower cortisol levels
Improve circulation in cold-stiffened muscles
Support lymphatic flow
Encourage parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) response
Even one 60-minute session can significantly reduce perceived stress and muscle guarding.
If you’ve noticed:
Persistent neck or shoulder tightness
Jaw tension
Headaches
Low back stiffness
Trouble fully relaxing
Your body may be overdue for hands-on care.
Between appointments, try this:
Inhale for 4 seconds, exhale for 6 seconds (longer exhale signals safety to the brain). Repeat for 2–3 minutes.
Place one hand on your chest, one on your abdomen and breathe into the lower hand.
Gently stretch your neck side to side, holding 20 seconds each direction without forcing.
It’s simple, but physiologically effective.
At Yellow Butterfly Wellness, my work centers on therapeutic massage that supports nervous system regulation and tension release. In the coming months, I’ll also be expanding into esthetic services — offering care that supports both the body and skin as part of a complete wellness approach.
February doesn’t require intensity. It requires attention.
If your body has been asking for care, this is a good time to respond.

Hot stone massage is often spoken about as a single service, but not all hot stone experiences are the same. The type of stone used, how heat is applied, and how the massage is structured all influence the way your body responds.
At Yellow Butterfly Wellness, hot stones are used intentionally and therapeutically—not as a trend or add-on, but as a supportive tool for deeper relaxation and muscle release. Below is a breakdown of the two ways heat is incorporated into sessions and how to know which option may be right for you.
Every restorative massage includes mini black basalt stones. These stones are volcanic in origin and known for their ability to retain heat effectively.
Basalt stones warm quickly and hold heat evenly, making them ideal for targeted use. The warmth helps soften muscle tissue, increase circulation, and support relaxation without overwhelming the nervous system.
Basalt stones are placed briefly or gently glided over specific areas of tension, then integrated back into hands-on massage. Heat is used as a support—not the focus—allowing the session to remain grounded, therapeutic, and responsive to your body’s needs.
This option is ideal for clients who enjoy warmth but still want a traditional massage flow with intentional enhancements.
The Himalayan Hot Stone Massage is a separate, full hot stone experience using warm Himalayan salt stones.
Himalayan salt stones are naturally mineral-rich and deeply grounding. They provide a sustained, comforting warmth that many clients find calming for both the body and nervous system. This service is especially well-suited for those seeking deep relaxation and a slower, more immersive experience.
In this session, stones and hands alternate seamlessly throughout the massage. The stones are glided, placed, and reintroduced intentionally, allowing heat to penetrate while maintaining a continuous hands-on flow. The result is a deeply soothing treatment that encourages full-body relaxation.
Choose a Restorative Massage with Basalt Stones if:
You want targeted warmth without a full hot stone focus
You prefer a more traditional massage structure
You enjoy subtle heat paired with hands-on therapy
Choose a Himalayan Hot Stone Massage if:
You love sustained warmth throughout your session
You’re looking for a deeply calming, grounding experience
You want heat to be a central part of the treatment
Both options are designed with intention and care. The difference lies in how heat is experienced and how it supports your body.
At Yellow Butterfly Wellness, heat is never rushed or overwhelming. Every session is tailored, intuitive, and guided by what your body needs that day. Whether heat is a subtle enhancement or the foundation of your treatment, it is always integrated with respect for your nervous system and overall wellbeing.
If you’re unsure which option to book, you’re always welcome to ask for guidance.
