Set in Jaipur, Rajasthan in the year 1998, the series follows the story told from the point of view of the 12-year-old Harshu Gupta and his family, the various trials and tribulations experienced in their day-to-day lives.

The creator of The Viral Fever, Arunabh Kumar stated about the concept of making a family-drama series, as according to Arunabh, film and television shows had lacked a good concept of a family drama in the past 20 years, in which a story that everyone can relate to. He wanted to bring the dynamics of the quintessential India family, which was the main core concept of the show. It was set in the 1990s as Arunabh stated that the time period was very organic because "just like the family relationships, 90s had a certain innocence about them".[2]

Created by TVF (The Viral Fever) and directed by Sameer Saxena, the first season revolves around the experiences of Harshu, the 12-year-old protagonist, and his interactions with his parents, siblings, and friends.

The first season of the Yeh Meri Family premiered on TVFPlay and YouTube in July 2018. Season 1 consisted of seven episodes of around 25-30 minutes each. The star cast of Season 1 included Vishesh Bansal, Mona Singh, Akarsh Khurana, Ahan Nirban, and Ruhi Khan.

The second season of Yeh Meri Family was released on 19 May 2023 and is available to stream on Amazon miniTV. Since Yeh Meri Family season 2 focuses on a different plot it has a different cast portraying a family of four. The star cast of Season 2 includes Rajesh Kumar, Juhi Parmar, Hetal Gada, Veena Mehta, and Angaad Maahloy.

Similar to the first season, Yeh Meri Family Season 2 is a heartwarming and delightful series that celebrates the everyday moments and emotions that shape our lives. It invites viewers to reminisce about their own childhood experiences and serves as a reminder of the timeless values of family, friendship, and the indomitable spirit of youth.

Disclaimer: Whether a show is family-friendly or not depends on the values and preferences of each family. Parents should use their best judgment to determine whether the show is appropriate for their children or not.

The first season of Yeh Meri Family, released in 2018, followed the story of a typical middle-class family during the 1990s and immediately struck a chord with millions of viewers. Season 2 of the TVF show will continue to portray the quirks of that family, taking a deep dive into simpler times when families used to celebrate centuries made by Sachin Tendulkar and become the envy of neighbours for owning a landline at home.

The first season was widely appreciated for its relatable narrative, and the endearing characters, depicting a typical Indian household, earning it an IMDB rating of 9/10. The second season promises to explore a few new characters and facets, delving into topics that viewers can relate to.

The drama is centred around the Awasthi family and is recounted by a 15-year-old girl named Ritika (Hetal Gada). Juhi Parmar, star of the TVF series Yeh Meri Family, is making her OTT debut in this instalment. Neerja, like an Indian mother, is always nurturing but can be strict when necessary. Angaad plays Ritika's mischievous younger brother, and Rajesh Kumar plays the character of the lenient father and family's good cop.

When I watched the first season of Yeh Meri Family, I was left in tears when the end credits in the last episode rolled down. When Dabbu was leaving after his summer vacation, his younger brother Harshu was overly emotional, realising that the relationship with his brother was finally changing as he was leaving his childhood home. That emotion, along with the summer vacation in Rajasthan, stayed with me even after five years.

This leads to Neerja slapping her son Rishi, which was intended for Ritika. This reminded me of the episode where Devendra Gupta (Akarsh Khurana) slaps his youngest daughter Chitti (Ruhi Khan), which sends shockwaves through the whole family. Maybe it was intentional to show that a slap from a parent was or is the norm for a kid.

Even though there's a constant reminder of how childhood has been for the 90s kids, there's a lack of depth in watching the second season. We asked for a sequel right away after TVF's debut season because it came out of nowhere. When the second season also comes out of nowhere, it just doesn't meet the expectations or the gold it struck with the first one.

Yeh Meri Family Season 2, with five episodes, takes us along on a winter vacation, but a warm, cosy hug in the name of nostalgia doesn't give a comforting watch, which the first season set against the backdrop of summer did.

According to IANS, the second season will be set in the backdrop of the winter season. The new season will revolve around the nuances of how a middle-class family from the 1990s went about their daily routine. The story will have some interesting twists as well.

Talking about the second season, Vijay Koshy, president, TVF, said, "Our endeavour has been to depict a strong multigenerational family drama set in the 1990s. The 90s era was the innocent period just before the advent of social media and other devices. It adds a lot of nostalgia and reminds you of simpler times. A large portion of TVF's early audience is from the 1990s generation, so we understand the emotional connect that people have with this era. We are confident that 'Yeh Meri Family' season 2 will strike an emotional chord with everyone who has lived through the 1990s and will deliver an exceptional experience." The soon-to-be-released season 2 will premiere exclusively on Amazon miniTV.

The trailer of the new season of Yeh Meri Family, released recently invoked nostalgia among viewers. The new season set in the 90s era of Lucknow winters is a walk down memory lane. The story revolves around the Awasthi family and is narrated by 15-year-old Ritika (Hetal Gada) and the entire show is captured from her point of view. Yeh Meri Family: Juhi Parmar, Rajesh Kumar and Anngad Maaholay Set to Bring Back Nostalgic in the New Season on Amazon Mini TV From May 19 (Watch Video).

Sharing her thoughts on the show, Juhi said, " I believe that people nowadays look for relatable stories, and characters, and' Yeh Meri Family' is one such show that brings in several flavors of emotions. I feel an emotional connection portraying the character of Neerja, a woman that is so relatable, multitasking between being a teacher, a daughter-in-law, a wife, a mother, etc. Blending an interesting plot with the 90's nostalgia, the show is high on emotions and situations that we all have been in. There are many brief moments in the show that will surely make the viewers cry, laugh, and even make them think about their life back in the golden era." The new season of 'Yeh Meri Family' is set to premiere on May 19 on Amazon miniTV.

The new season of the web series Yeh Meri Family will be available on Amazon MiniTV. The digital streaming date is still under wraps. However, it is expected to start streaming soon. The series will be available free of charge.

The series has 7 episodes and in all the 7 episodes, Harshu goes through different travails of early teenage life. Sometimes he is a cute kid, sometimes a bit nasty, and sometimes nice. It has all the ingredients of an engaging story and once you start watching the first episode, you want to watch all, and you feel bad when the series suddenly ends. You wish that the next season becomes available soon.

The OTT space has exploded with content over the last few years and yet it's hard to find content that you can enjoy with your whole family in the comfort of your home. To serve that purpose, here is a list of family-friendly content that one can binge-watch with the entire family including kids. The below shows not only entertain but also promise to leave you with an impactful message about friendship, love, family bonding, and more.

Set in Jaipur, Rajasthan in the year 1998, the series follows the story told from the point of view of a 12-year-old Harshu Gupta. Starring Mona Singh, Akarsh Khurana, Ahan Nirban, Ruhi Khan and Prasad Reddy, Yeh Meri Family is a coming-of-age family drama that is sure to entertain you.

The series revolves around a middle-class family, the Sharmas. There's a gossip-loving grandmother, a hardworking father, a sanskaari mom, and two grown up kids who are dealing with their middle-classness in the best way possible. With lots of relevant quirks, issues and comedy, this show promises to be a perfect family watch.

Set in quaint by-lanes in the heart of India, Gullak is a collection of disarming and relatable tales of the Mishra family. Join Santosh and Shanti Mishra, their sons Annu and Aman, as they savour the many flavours of a small-town life with a whole lot of humour, wit and of course, lots of love.

Even though I have gone on and on about the feel of the 90s, the biggest heroes of the show are the writing and the direction. The writing is so delicate and beautiful that it tears you up as it makes you smile. The sequence where Harshu describes Summer season as a festival, the episode '12th Man' are places where I had tears of joy. The analogies of Mario-Monopoly, Moon-Asteroid, and even Two Bulls further showcase the high-class art on display. One of my favorite lines is from the episode 'Vish Amrit' where Harshu says "Aaj Doga hoon tab toh koi pooch nahin raha, Kal Suppandi ho jaunga tab kaun poochega". I just cracked up at the line and the fantastic delivery. The direction is equally good and Sameer Saxena does an outstanding job as the director of the show. He understands the era and the essence of the characters exceptionally well. That is why he is able to create so many little moments that stay with you long after the episode is over. e24fc04721
