Multiplying or dividing by an integer

When we are multiplying, we are working out groups of something.  For example, if we were to work out 4 groups of -3, we could write it as 4 x -3.

In expanded form 4 x -3 would look like -3 + -3 + -3 + -3 which would equal -12.

Let's consider then the following.

5 x (-6) = 

So now we see a new set of rules forming (yay, more maths rules).  Let's jot these down.
