Begin a digital scrap book of environmental geography in the news. Ideally create a Google doc so that you can access your scrap book in college at the start of term. Get into the habit of reading the news regularly. You could put apps onto a phone or tablet. Useful news sources are:

Create a collection of news articles that cover environmental issues. Our first topic will be Water and carbon cycles and this prior research will support your learning of the topic. You could use a snipping tool or take sreeen shots of articles and copy them into your digital scrap book (Google doc). Please don't just copy and paste web addresses, you need to actually be able to read the articles.

In geography we use data from a range of sources to analyse the socio economic and demographic characteristics of places. This means we can find out about the people who live in all neighbourhoods. The range of data available is vast! It tells us about factors such as people's jobs, education, ethnicity and health. We can also see mapped crime over time and space.

CDRC maps also has a 'data chooser' giving you access to different types of data
Police.uk - find you local area using your postcode then select 'crime map' to see which crimes have happened where and when.
