If you want a dedicated, all-day wireless UC headset with active noise cancellation and a 14-hour battery life for serious work calls, choose Yealink WH62; if you need a certified, wired stereo solution that prioritizes Microsoft Teams integration and immediate plug-and-play reliability without worrying about charging, choose EPOS.
• Yealink WH62: Offers robust wireless freedom with Bluetooth 5.0 and a substantial 14-hour battery life, making it ideal for long meetings, but its over-ear design is heavier than some alternatives.
• EPOS Impact 860: Delivers certified stereo sound via USB Type-C with active noise cancellation, perfect for fixed desk setups where cable stability matters more than portability.
• The Winner for Mobility: Choose the Yealink WH62 if you move around your office or commute while working.
• The Winner for Stability: Choose the EPOS Impact 860 if you stay seated at a single workstation and need guaranteed audio quality without battery anxiety.
The Yealink WH62 Mono UC Wireless Noise Canceling Headset is built for the modern professional who needs to stay connected across multiple platforms without being tethered to a desk. Its core strength lies in its "Multi UC Platform Compatibility," which ensures a consistent call experience whether you are using desktop softphones, desk phones, or computers. This is not just about connecting to one device; it is about creating a seamless workflow where you can switch between tasks without reconfiguring your audio gear. The inclusion of a dedicated Teams button means that activating Microsoft Teams is as simple as a single touch, removing friction from your daily communication routine.
For those who spend hours on back-to-back calls, the battery performance is a game-changer. With an average battery life of 14 hours, this headset is designed to last through a full workday and then some. You do not need to hunt for a charger every afternoon or worry about the device dying mid-meeting. The wireless technology relies on Bluetooth 5.0, providing a stable connection that allows you to step away from your computer to grab a coffee or join a quick huddle without losing the call. The active noise cancellation feature further isolates you from office chatter, ensuring that your voice is heard clearly and that you can focus on the conversation at hand.

However, the Yealink WH62 is not for everyone. It is an over-ear design with a rounded earpiece shape, and while this offers comfort for many, the listed specifications indicate an item weight of 16 ounces. This is significantly heavier than standard clip-on or lightweight on-ear options. If you are sensitive to weight on your head or prefer a minimalistic profile that disappears into your hair, this might feel cumbersome after several hours of wear. Additionally, because it is a mono headset, it is optimized for voice clarity rather than immersive music listening. If your primary use case involves consuming high-fidelity stereo music alongside your work, you might find the audio experience limiting compared to a true stereo system.
This product fits the user who values productivity and uninterrupted connectivity above all else. It is perfect for sales professionals, customer support agents, and remote workers who need a reliable, heavy-duty tool that handles the rigors of constant calling. The carrying case, made of durable nylon or leather, suggests that travel is part of the equation, making it a solid choice for hybrid workers who need a bag-ready solution.
The EPOS Impact 860 Headset takes a different approach, focusing on precision, certification, and wired reliability. This is a stereo headset that connects via USB Type-C, offering a direct, low-latency link to your computer. The description highlights its suitability for streaming high-quality sound for entertainment and education, but its primary value proposition for the workplace is its Microsoft Teams Certification. In environments where Teams is the central hub for collaboration, having a device that is officially certified ensures that features like mute controls, meeting joins, and audio routing work flawlessly out of the box. There is no guesswork or driver installation required; you simply plug it in, and it works.
The EPOS Impact 860 is an excellent choice for users who prioritize audio fidelity and stability over wireless convenience. By utilizing a wired connection, you eliminate the possibility of Bluetooth interference, signal dropouts, or battery depletion during critical moments. The active noise cancellation feature helps maintain a quiet workspace, allowing you to concentrate even in noisy environments. The dynamic driver type ensures that both speech and media sounds are reproduced with clarity, making it suitable for those who listen to audiobooks, watch instructional videos, or enjoy stereo music during their downtime.
Despite these strengths, the EPOS Impact 860 comes with significant trade-offs regarding mobility. Being a wired headset, you are restricted by the length of the cable. You cannot walk around the office or take calls while moving freely between rooms without dragging your computer or relying on a very short extension. Furthermore, the item dimensions (2.6 x 8.35 x 7.28 inches) and weight of 0.15 kg suggest a compact form factor, yet the lack of wireless capability makes it less versatile for a mobile workforce. The design is also specifically noted for its compatibility with devices including smartphones, tablets, and computers via Bluetooth, but the primary connectivity listed for the main unit is USB Type-C, which implies a fixed station setup for optimal performance.
This product is best suited for the stationary worker, the home office professional who rarely leaves their desk, or the student who needs a reliable, plug-and-play solution for online learning and homework. If your day consists mostly of sitting at a desk, managing video conferences, and needing a guarantee that your audio will never fail due to a dead battery, the EPOS Impact 860 is the logical choice. It sacrifices the freedom of movement for the peace of mind that comes with a hardwired, certified connection.
• Best for Battery Life: Yealink WH62 wins decisively with a 14-hour battery life, whereas the EPOS wired model has no battery constraints but requires a constant power source.
• Best for Mobility: Yealink WH62 is the clear winner here; its Bluetooth 5.0 wireless technology allows you to move freely, unlike the tethered EPOS headset.
• Best for Microsoft Teams Integration: Both are strong, but the EPOS Impact 860 is explicitly marketed with Microsoft Teams Certification for stereo sound, ensuring deep OS-level integration for fixed desks.
• Best for Audio Fidelity: EPOS Impact 860 offers stereo sound, providing a richer listening experience for music and media compared to the mono voice-centric Yealink WH62.
• Best for Office Noise Cancellation: Both feature Active Noise Cancellation, so they are equal in this regard, though the over-ear design of the Yealink may offer slightly better physical isolation.
• Best for Portability: Yealink WH62 includes a carrying case and weighs 16 ounces, making it travel-ready, while the EPOS Impact 860 at 0.15 kg is lighter but less convenient to carry due to the cable.
• Best for Heavy Users: Yealink WH62 is built for continuous, long-duration use with its robust battery and multi-platform support.
• Best for Simplicity: EPOS Impact 860 offers a true plug-and-play experience with USB Type-C, requiring no pairing processes or charging cycles.
In my opinion, for work scenarios that demand flexibility and endurance, I would buy the Yealink WH62. The ability to go wireless with a 14-hour battery life transforms the way you interact with your workspace, freeing you from the chair and eliminating the stress of finding a charging outlet. While the EPOS Impact 860 is a fantastic, certified stereo option for a fixed desk, the Yealink WH62 better serves the modern, mobile professional who needs a "best clip on earbuds for work" style of freedom but with the superior comfort and noise control of an over-ear design. It strikes the right balance between professional utility and personal mobility, making it the superior choice for anyone who does not want to be tied to a desk.
Yes, the Yealink WH62 is designed for extended use with a 14-hour battery life and active noise cancellation, ensuring you stay focused and connected throughout the entire workday without interruption.
While the EPOS Impact 860 supports Bluetooth for connecting to various devices, its primary functionality for the headset itself is a wired USB Type-C connection, making it best suited for stationary desk use rather than wireless mobility.
The EPOS Impact 860 offers stereo sound with dynamic drivers, providing a higher fidelity experience for music, movies, and educational content compared to the mono voice-optimized Yealink WH62.
Both headsets are compatible with Microsoft Teams; the Yealink WH62 features a dedicated button for one-touch activation, while the EPOS Impact 860 holds official Microsoft Teams Certification for seamless integration.
